Coaching is the science of helping people solve problems through analysis and observation. The goal of coaching is incremental improvement.


 

What is Coaching?

Coaching can provide empowerment and support in a wide variety of ways. Whether you are seeking a change, or simply want to proceed in your life with more focus and vigor, a good coach can make all the difference. The coaching process provides an individual with feedback, insight and guidance on achieving their full potential in their business.

The coach first helps to define the goals, and then supports the client in executing them by mapping out a strategy and helping the client stay on track. Coaching helps to balance work, family, social demands and leisure as well.

Coaching isn't just giving advice. It is a special consultant/client relationship that has a specific goal. The job of the coach is to use appropriate techniques, strategies, and skills to bring about the desired result. Accordingly, not everyone is qualified to be a coach.

Coaching is more than a mind set, set of tools, or professional discipline and requires insight, specialized training and superior communication skills. In sports, the coach isn't the one who is the best player, he is the one who can bring out the best in the raw talent on the team. The coach can't execute the plays, but decides what plays work best in certain circumstances, when to use each play, and can teach executable skills.

In network marketing, coaching can include a wide variety of areas which could have an impact on your ability to achieve your goals. The range of potential problem areas can be incredibly broad. Even small changes in key areas can make a significant difference in your approach to your business and have a major impact on your success, your future, and how much money you can make.

  2. If I could wave a magic wand over my business, what one thing do I want to happen in the next 90 days?
  3. What is the biggest challenge in building my business?
  4. What can I do today that I didn't do yesterday that will have the greatest impact on tomorrow?
  5. Am I achieving the fullest measure of success of which I'm capable?

If I think I need coaching, what should I do?

The answer is as obvious as it is complicated. You have to find a coach who understands the dynamics of network marketing, has a track record of success, and someone who is a trained coach. That's the obvious part. The complicated part is separating the "rah rah" motivational types who use platitudes and catchy slogans from those with enough experience and insight to actually help YOU.

It's the difference between efficiency and effectiveness. Efficiency is doing things right - effectiveness is doing the right things!

It doesn't matter how well you learn to do the wrong things.

  • The right coach starts with your situation, not from his/her set of possible solutions.
  • The right coach begins by understanding your situation, not by telling you much they know.
  • The right coach is only interested in your problem, not in selling you anything other than their expertise.

What does coaching cost?

Most coaches charge on a time and expense basis. Expenses would include travel, meals and lodging for those occasions where you may want the coach to do a seminar for your down line or something of that sort.

Hourly fees can range from $50 - $200 an hour. You don't always get what you pay for - but most of the time you do. Make sure you understand the fee schedule, method of payment, etc.To put the fee in its proper perspective, ask yourself this questions, "What would I be willing to pay to make a 10% difference in my income?"

It's also important to have an expectation of what is to be accomplished over what period of time. Except for seminars for large groups of people, most coaching requires a series of sessions and it's not unusual for there to be a periodic commitment of weekly, twice a month, or monthly sessions.
